Hi, I have an 07 GX, 5K miles and the maintenance light just popped on, I had the oil changed about 1 month ago, at around 4700 miles, could this just be setup as a timer on the vehicle or could it possible actually need to go in for service ? Just wanted to know before I go on and reset that light.

Is it popping on for about a few seconds? After you turn the vehicle on every time, it will flash about twice I think. But if it starts to flash for about 6-8 times, yes that means it needs servicing (like oil change). But you mentioned that you just had the oil change done, so I believe the dealer probably forgot to reset the light. Simply just put the key in the II position, hold down the trip button and start the car up WHILE HOLDING down the trip button.

I think the mechanic just forgot to reset the service reminder.

Well if that is the case, just reset it like I explained above.
